At Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency Inc. (RKCAA), we believe that real change happens when we choose collaboration over competition. In a world where nonprofits are often forced to compete for funding, recognition, and limited resources, RKCAA stands firm in the belief that partnerships—not rivalry—build stronger communities.
Our mission has always been rooted in service. For decades, RKCAA has worked tirelessly to address the systemic barriers facing low-income individuals and families throughout Racine and Kenosha counties. But we also understand that no single organization can do it all. It takes a network—a united, community-focused approach—to truly make a lasting impact.
That’s why collaboration is not just something we do. It’s who we are.
Whether it’s working with local health departments to improve maternal and child outcomes, teaming up with schools to provide nutrition support for students, or coordinating with housing organizations to fight homelessness—our approach is always collaborative. We recognize that every organization brings something unique to the table. When we unite resources, expertise, and energy, the entire community benefits.
The truth is, when agencies compete, communities lose. Services become duplicated in some areas and are absent in others. Communication breaks down. And the people who need us most—our neighbors facing hunger, housing insecurity, or health disparities—fall through the cracks.
RKCAA is proud to stand as a model for partnership. From grassroots organizations to large-scale institutions, we’ve built lasting alliances that allow us to leverage our strengths, close service gaps, and reach deeper into the communities we serve. Our success isn’t measured by individual recognition, but by collective impact.
This philosophy of unity has been especially critical in times of crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was our partnerships—with local government, nonprofits, and community leaders—that enabled us to respond quickly, deliver essential services, and protect the most vulnerable. That experience reaffirmed what we’ve always known: when we work together, we can overcome anything.
“Collaboration Over Competition” isn’t just a tagline. It’s a commitment. It’s a recognition that equity, dignity, and opportunity flourish when agencies support each other instead of outpacing one another. It’s a promise to our community that RKCAA will always lead with open hands—not closed fists.
We invite all organizations, leaders, and residents who share our vision to join us. Let’s rise above silos. Let’s build partnerships that matter. Let’s center the work where it belongs—on the people we serve. Because in Racine and Kenosha, collaboration isn’t just the better way forward.
It’s the only way.
