Obituary
Cynthia “Cindy” D. Jurewicz, 62 years old, called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was a devoted wife, daughter, amazing mother, loving sister, and friend to so many.
Born on September 27, 1963, in Chicago, IL to Charles and Roberta (Linowiecki) Izban. She attended St. Bartholomew grammar school and graduated from Mother Theodore Guerin HS in 1981.
She attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL, and received her degree as a Surgical Technologist. She worked at several Chicago-area medical facilities, including Grant Hospital. For 15 years, she concentrated her skills in the Ophthalmological field for an eye surgeon in Chicago, before finishing her career as a private surgical tech for a nationally recognized premier eye surgeon.
Though she met her future husband through a mutual friend at the age of 18, they didn’t start dating until 1991. She married Joseph Jurewicz on October 9, 1993, and they had three amazing children that she not only raised but also home schooled well into their primary school years.
She loved Jesus with her whole heart and had volumes of journals in which she poured out her heart to Him for her family, friends, those in all kinds of need, but especially her children. She served as a volunteer in various ministries, including greeter, hosting dinners for new church members, benevolence, meals, and women’s ministries. She truly was a light to the world, and every room she walked into became brighter and a bit more energetic!
She was a woman of faith, and it was through her faith that she was granted a miracle. She spent 73 days in the hospital and in August 2024 was told to “go home and die in peace, there is nothing further we can medically do for you”. After only 3 days in home hospice, her body miraculously began to function again. God granted her another 15 months. Her cancer did return, but her faith did not falter. She daily called out to God for relief, healing, and peace. God granted her wish to be fully healed by taking her home on October 13. Through all her suffering, she praised God in the storm.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joseph “Joe” Jurewicz, children Joshua, Alex, and Julia, her mother Roberta Willes, brother Chuck Izban (Marge), her sisters Carolyn Ponder (Mike) and Cathy Tounas, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Izban.
