Francisco Cerda, 97 of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
He was born December 16, 1927, in Crystal City, TX, to Abelino and Cliofas (Montoya) Cerda. On April 12, 1949, he married Maria Villalobos. Shortly after, work brought them to WI, and they eventually settled in Kenosha.
In the early 1950s, he started working at American Motors and retired after 35 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and ushered there for over 40 years. Also, a member of UAW, Local 72. During his retirement, he liked hanging out in his garage, going for long walks, and babysitting his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Maria of Kenosha; daughters, Rose (Francisco) Perez and Susana (Domingo) Palomo; grandchildren, Claudia (Braulio) Jaramillo, Corinna (Christian) Vargas, Brianna and Samantha Palomo; great-grandchildren, Gabriela, Luis, Theodore, Camila, and Mateo. He is further survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ninfa and Hortensia, and brother, Manuel.
Francisco was a loving, kind, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
A visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home the following day, Friday, September 26, 2025, at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Parish, 2224 45th Ave, Kenosha at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
