Marlene Mae Hubbard (VanDerZee), 91 years old of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on July 25, 1934, in Fox River, WI, to the late Henry and Martha (Carlson) VanDerZee. Marlene attended grade school in Salem Mound Center, Silver Lake (Riverview), and graduated from Wilmot High School in 1954. It was there in 1949, when she was 14 and a freshman, that she met the love of her life, Watson Hubbard. They were married on April 24, 1954, at Holy Name Church in Wilmot, WI. Watson died on April 18, 2008, after 54 years together.
Marlene was employed at Tri-Clover for 18 years. She was a past member and officer of the Pleasant Prairie Fireman Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a poll worker in Pleasant Prairie and a volunteer at Kenosha Medical Center. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Marlene enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, craft shows, her monthly luncheons with her Tri-Clover gals, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She always tried to keep the cookie jar filled with freshly-baked cookies for the grandkids.
Survivors include her three children, Bruce (Diane) Hubbard of Antioch, IL, Sue Hanna of Kenosha, WI, and Patricia Hubbard of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica) Koloen, and Karrie (James) Klinefelter, Courtney (Jake) Redlich, Joshua Kennedy, Amanda (Brandon) Patterson, and Jason (Bernice) Desbiens; ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tiernan Koloen, Brodie and Ava Klinefelter, Talon and Arwen Gay, Garrett and Clara Mae Patterson, Chloe Kennedy, and Vance Redlich; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffery; brother, Donald VanDerZee; sister, Elaine Maleski; sister-in-law, Betty VanDerZee; brother-in-law, Gaylord Maleski; nieces, Mary Ellen Hahn and Marsha Bousson; and nephews, Craig Maleski and Michael McCue.
Visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Prayers will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7307 40th Ave., at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to immediately follow at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue, American Heart Association, or the American Cancer society would be greatly appreciated.
