A LIFE WELL-LIVED. John I. Borgi, 97, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at Robin Way Assisted Living.
The son of Benedetto and Elena (Infusino) Borgi, John was born in Kenosha on June 17, 1928. From the time he got his first motorcycle at age 16, John developed a true passion for cars, motorcycles, and racing, owning and maintaining a wide range of sports and performance vehicles over the years. He and his brother, Isadore, raced both cars and motorcycles together, competing in on and off-road events. The brothers shared the same hobbies and interests and remained close throughout their lives. John served in the US Army, was stationed in Japan during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. He then attended Aircraft Mechanic School in Tulsa, OK, and was employed as an aircraft technician at Midway Airport.
On May 24, 1992, John married Lorraine Kotlarczyk in Kenosha, and the couple recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. John loved all animals, especially their little Shih Tzu, Maxie. After retirement, John volunteered as a librarian at the Kenosha City Jail for ten years. He loved NASCAR, the Indy 500, jazz, bicycling, jogging, and exercising. John was a kind, honorable, and humble man who always helped others while expecting nothing in return. He lived a simple life. John is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, his brother, Isadore, and many cousins. Godspeed, Johnny. You will be missed.
Visitation for John will be held at the Kemper Center Founders Hall on Thursday, August 21, from 11:00 to 1:00, with a brief prayer service before leaving for St. George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, John requested that donations be made to The Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus.
