Susan M. Riley left this world on July 21, 2025, at the age 84 with her loved ones by her side. She was known by many for her smile, her love for children, and her beautiful curly gray hair. Her greatest joy and biggest accomplishment were being a stay at home mom and how she sacrificed and gave selflessly for her family & her husband.
Susan was born in Chicago, IL on March 27, 1941. The daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Ohlhaut) Busa. On June 4, 1960, in Oak Park, IL she was united in marriage to Robert Riley.
Susan’s family moved to the Lily Lake area in 1970 from Addison, IL where she was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, WI, served on the ladies’ group at church, and served the community of Silver Lake, WI as an EMT for 6 years. Robert and Susan are former owners of the Lily Lake Resort. Susan was an impactful supporter of charities such as Just Live, St. Jude, Maryville Orphanage, Farm of the Child and many others. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family & friends.
Susan is survived by her husband Robert. Mother to Michael (Jill) Riley, Kelly (Joe) Herda, Shannon Riley, Sean Riley, Mariza (Greg) Nichols and Christopher Riley. Grandmother of 9. Sister to Charles (Lisa) Machac, Deborah (Michael) Maledon and Pamela (Donald) Jamison.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Charles, Son Paul, Daughter Jeannie, Granddaughter Jamie Leigh, and Grandson Joey.
Memorials can be made to Just Live, Inc., Seno K/RLT Conservancy, St. Jude or Farm of the Child.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 on Monday July 28, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 6301 344th Ave New Munster, WI. 53152. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of mass at church. The Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes, WI. is honored to serve the Riley family.
