Dolores E. Bennett (Lanzel), age 98, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly from La Crosse, and Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Dolores was born in La Crosse, WI on June 24, 1927, to the late Anthony and Julia (Formella) Lanzel. Dolores attended St. John’s Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Aquinas High School.
Dolores married James W. Bennett, Sr. on December 24, 1945, in Boston, MA. They later divorced.
Dolores moved to Florida in 1973, working for Central Florida Finer Foods, as a receptionist, and Macy’s (Burdine’s) Dept. Store as a sales associate, retiring in 2007.
Dolores is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winter Haven, FL.
Dolores enjoyed taking time talking with all family members, remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and all special occasions, or just to say, “Hi.” Dolores also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to dinner, a trip to the casino once in a while, and working on different puzzles.
Dolores was a loving mother and is survived by her children, James (Susan) Bennett Jr, of Kenosha, WI, Ellen (Nat) Manning of Winter Haven, FL, Michael Bennett of Lakeland, FL, and Gregory (Vienna Abremowitz) Bennett of Soddy Daisy, TN.
Dolores is survived by 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Karen) Bennett-Voland, Tanya Bennett, Kelly (Michael Lapinskas) Evans, Joseph (Christine) Brickner, Jon (Kelly) Brickner, Christy (Dean) Wilkerson, Tracy (Bill) Adkins, Michael (Elizabeth) Bennett, Samuel Bennett, Joshua Bennett, and Rachel Bennett.
Dolores is survived by 17 great-grandchildren, Keith Bennett, Jessie (Michael) Brand, Cody Evans, Heather Evans, Kaitlyn Bennett, Jason Brickner, Julia Brickner, Chelsea Brickner, Zackary Brickner, Logan Brickner, Zachary Wilkerson, Tyler Wilkerson, Billy Adkins, Brian Adkins, Benjamin Adkins, Samantha (Jaxen) Herrie, and Nia Collier Bennett.
Dolores is survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Hayden Brand and Aria Brand.
Dolores is survived by three sisters: Elizabeth Joseph of La Crosse, WI, Marie (James) Guertin of Holmen, WI, and Ann Sandvig of La Crosse, WI. She is also survived by five brothers: Herbert Lanzel of La Crosse, WI, Joseph (Lynn) Lanzel of Onalaska, WI, William (June) Lanzel of La Crosse, WI, James Lanzel of La Crosse, WI, and Frederick (Cheryl) Lanzel of Holmen, WI.
Dolores is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Julia Lanzel, brother Anthony “Tony” Lanzel, sister Angela “Ann” Lanzel, and brother Robert “Bob” Lanzel.
Dolores will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home to St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. and entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, Pleasant Prairie, WI.
