Debbie Prescott, 74, formerly of Kenosha late of Clinton, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Saturday, July 5, 2025.
She was born on June 23, 1951 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She came to Kenosha as an infant in 1953 and was educated in the schools of Paddock Lake and graduated from Central High School.
On July 12, 1969 she married Terry L. Prescott in Kenosha and was married for 56 years.
Debbie worked at Modern Home Products in Antioch, IL for 15 years.
Debbie was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her daughters. She was also a cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for her son. She also endeavored on being a basketball coach for one year, not knowing the game, but she still did it because it was for her son.
She loved her family and loved to make big meals for special occasions. She knitted for the kids and her grandkids making Afghans, hats, booties and scarves for them.
Debbie was the president of the Fox River Marine Corps League Ladies Auxiliary of Racine County for many years where she was involved with multiple projects. She was instrumental in visiting the veterans at North Chicago VA Hospital nursing home care facility taking care packages every month to the residence. That evolved into an annual picnic every year at the Tomha V. A. Center Hospital called “Vets Day” and helped to start the same in Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. These picnics are still going on today and it’s been 35 years!
Debbie was also invaluable in helping Woman’s and Children’s Horizon in Kenosha for abused women and children. She was also involved in Adopt A Family for the Westosha area at Christmas time and that is still going on to this day.
Debbie is survived by her husband Terry, her daughters Elizabeth “Janie” (Frank) Paslaski and Sistina (Patrick) McKeon, her grandchildren Matthew (Jessie), Emily, Ronan, Kaylee and Lauren, her five great-grandchildren Ensley, Mavrick, Conrad, Jarlaxle, and Arya; her foster parents Dale and Beverly Plants, her foster brothers Donny Plants, Kurt (Karen) Plants and Kenny (Sue) Plants and her foster sisters Darlene Plants, Bonnie Plants, Marie (Mike) Flesch, Krissy Plants and Becky Jo Plants.
She is preceded in death by her beautiful son Daniel Prescott in February 2000.
A Celebration of Life for Debbie will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
