Janice (Jenny) M. Steinseifer, 97, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Library Terrace.
She was born on February 20, 1928 to the late Frank and Lillian (Gardinier) Ehmke in Kenosha. She was educated in the public schools of Kenosha and for 4 years in Mt. Carmel, IL returning to Kenosha where she graduated high school.
On June 26, 1948 she married Werner Steinseifer at First Congregational Church in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2016.
Janice worked in the office at Snap-On-Tools for a few years following which became a homemaker.
Janice was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active up until the last few years.
Janice was a former member of the Circle and Squares Square Dancing Club, a member of the VFW Auxiliary 7308, and a member of the Happy Wanderers Camping Club. She enjoyed traveling in their RV, covering nearly the entire U.S, and in later years wintering in Florida and spending time during the summer in the Boundary Waters of Ely, Minnesota. Janice was a lover of poetry and wrote many poems.
Janice is survived by her son Rick (Sharyle) Steinseifer of Vero Beach, FL, her grandchildren Eric Steinseifer of Tempe, AZ, and Lindsey (William) DeGirolamo of Fairfield, CT, and a great grandson Maxwell.
She is preceded in death by her eldest son Gary and a sister Violet Pfeiffer.
Funeral Services for Janice will be held on Monday, July 21th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church (1803 – 83rd St.). Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private interment will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials would be appreciated to Hospice Alliance.
