Shirley May Hanlin was born June 17, 1948 to Peter and Mary Catherine Romanko in Jerseyville, Illinois. After battling cancer she passed on July 11, 2025 surrounded by those who loved her. Shirley’s faith in God turned a difficult time into a peaceful transition from earth to heaven.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her husband, Dean; children, Jennifer (Jack) Yule, Eric Hanlin; grandchildren, Steven, Cristopher, Katherine; great grandchildren, Eleanor, Liam, Christopher, Malcom, Evelyn, Nadya, Charlotte, Owen; sisters, Susan, Patricia, Catherine.
When Shirley wasn’t cruising on the motorcycle with the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) or attending church at Immanuel Baptist, she could be found having a great time with her family. Shirley has family in Wisconsin and Arizona and for many years they have migrated to a warmer climate in December and returned just before Mother’s Day. She loved spending time thrift shopping with her sisters, playing with and exploring the great outdoors with her great grandchildren and chilling on the couch at the end of the day sharing popcorn with her dog, Gus.
Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
