On June 2, 2025, Daniel Anton Rubjerg passed from his earthly home to his heavenly one surrounded by his loving family. His life of 79 years began on August 14, 1945, as the fourth child born to Eiler and Dagney (Jacobsen) Rubjerg. Growing up adjacent to Lincoln Park, he developed a lifelong love for everything found in God’s beautiful outdoors. It was a love certainly evident throughout his lifetime.
Attending local schools Dan graduated from Mary D. Bradford High in 1964. Following graduation, he pursued further study at G.T.I. in Graphic Design. Three years later, in 1966, Dan was drafted into the United States Army. He spent one year in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer and was wounded in an ambush which resulted in him being awarded a Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge, Daniel spent 10 years in the accounting department of a Goodyear Hose Plant centered in Northern Illinois. The following 30 years, Dan spent working as a truck dispatcher for Jupiter Transportation Company in Kenosha. It was a job he enjoyed very much.
One June 12, 1971, Dan was united in marriage to JoAnne Carol Pingitore. They enjoyed 53 years together as husband and wife. “We liked each other from the very first flirt!” Then for more than 50 years he and JoAnne attended and supported Kenosha Bible Church and Immanuel Baptist Church. Their trust in Jesus Christ in their Lord and Savior was a major turning point in their lives.
Daniel has a lot of interests many of which centered around the great outdoors. In his younger years, it was collecting butterflies and fishing. Then he developed an avid love for hunting the white tail of Northern Wisconsin. As a homeowner, Dan planted and cared for over 14 varieties of trees resulting in a very inviting place to rest and relax. Other interests included golf, bowling and new cars.
Dan will forever be in the hearts of those he loved especially his loving wife, JoAnne; his son, Hans (Melissa) and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexyss and Arianna. Of course, this list includes some very special cousins and oodles of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Eiler and Dagney, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Eiler; his sisters, Ruth and Carol and a favorite cousin, Sam.
The family wishes to thank all those from Hospice Alliance, especially our loving neighbor Jan, who gave Dan wonderful care during his final days.
