Blue House Books closes summer with fun activities

Summer is bursting with fun at Blue House Books! From thrilling author meet & greets and magical storytimes to a mysterious Blind Date with a Book, there’s something for every reader and family to enjoy as summer winds down.

Meet & Greet with Audrey Wilson

Stop by Blue House Books on Saturday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet local author Audrey Wilson and celebrate the release of her chilling new thriller, The Ever End. Described as “cult-like” and “devilishly creepy,” the novel blends mystery, ritual, and suspense, perfect for fans of elevated horror. Audrey will be signing books and chatting with readers throughout the event! See more details here!

Meet & Greet with Julia Byrd

Celebrate the release of Caviar Marriage, a swoony marriage-of-convenience romcom set largely in Racine, with author Julia Byrd on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blue House Books. Stop in anytime to chat with Julia, a Chicago-based author, and get your copy signed!

Princess Tea Party & Storytime

Join Princess Amanda at Blue House Books on Sunday, August 10 at 4:30 p.m. for a magical tea party and reading of Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs?,
perfect for kids ages 5-10. Little princes and princesses are encouraged to dress up and enjoy sweet treats generously donated by Oliver’s Bakery. Tickets are only $5, and space is limited!

Meet & Greet with Caroline Woods

Stop by Blue House Books on Saturday, August 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet Midwestern author Caroline Woods and celebrate the paperback release of The Mesmerist, a 2024 NPR Book of the Year! This gripping historical thriller explores women’s autonomy and is perfect for fans of The Briar Club and The Lost Apothecary. Caroline will be signing books and chatting with readers throughout the event.

Stuffie Sleepover at Blue House Books

Bring your stuffed friend to Blue House Books on Saturday, August 16 at 4:30 p.m. for a pajama party story time with storyteller Lisa from TravelingTrunk. Kids ages 5-8 will enjoy the bedtime book Sleepytime from Bluey before tucking their stuffies in for a fun overnight stay at the store. Kids must go home so their stuffies can have a night of adventures all their own! Parents can pick up their stuffed friends the next day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are only $5 per child and include one adult.

Tiger Tuffy and the Awesome Birthday Bike Storytime

Join cartoonist and children’s author Rachel Adler at Blue House Books on Sunday, August 24 at 2:30 p.m. for a story time featuring their new picture book, Tiger Tuffy and the Awesome Birthday Bike. Follow Tiger Tuffy on a birthday adventure with his dream bike: one that flies, dives underwater, and even soars through fire! Kids ages 2-7 will enjoy the reading and a fun activity led by Rachel. RSVP is required to attend.

Blind Date with a Book

From Monday, August 25 through Sunday, August 31, stop by Blue House Books for a chance to pick a “mystery date” book! Wrapped to keep the title a surprise, each book comes with a brief description to help you choose your next great read. Looking for something extra? Grab a limited deluxe package that includes a mystery book, a tea packet, a chocolate bar, and a bookish gift bundle for $40, available in-store only. Books and packages will be available during normal store hours.
