Shalom Center Receives Safe Shelter and Homelessness Grant

Kenosha, WI – Shalom Center recently received a grant from the State of Wisconsin. The Safe Shelter and Homelessness Grant will help further the Shalom Center mission of serving the Kenosha community through food, shelter, and supportive ways. Shalom Center serves as the only homeless shelter, largest food pantry, and longest running nightly meal program in Kenosha County. In 2024, Shalom Center provided:

· 21,002 shelter nights

· Served 13,848 households from their food pantry

· Fed over 55,000 from their soup kitchen

“I am excited and honored that the Shalom Center was selected to receive this grant. I want to thank the State of Wisconsin for their support and for believing in our mission. I also want to thank Representative Ben DeSmidt for his assistance and advocacy throughout the grant process,” stated Esther Roberts, Executive Director of Shalom Center.

The grant will be used to further enhance Shalom Center Shelter Services which encompasses the Individual Shelter and the Emergency Family Shelter. “Shalom Center is very thankful for the Safe Shelter and Homelessness Grant. We look forward to maximizing this grant in order to provide more of our resources to more households in the Kenosha community,” shared Roberts.
