Rangers of the Week: Katja Baeuerle and Rachel Blaskowski

The 2022-23 Parkside Athletics season is coming to a close. With just one event left on schedule, two athletes are set to represent the Rangers on the national stage. Katja Baeuerle and Rachel Blaskowski, who qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo., have been named this week’s Kenosha.com Rangers of the Week.

Baeuerle, a redshirt sophomore from Bretten Germany, will compete in the 1,500-meter run. Ranked seventh going into the event, Baeuerle looks to advance to the finals and earn her first All-America honor. She previously represented Parkside on the national stage at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships in November.

Blaskowski, a freshman from Oak Creek, will compete in the women’s long jump. She enters the meet with a jump of 6.11 meters, which led her to her first outdoor conference title at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on May 4. Blaskowski looks to cap her impressive rookie campaign by earning her first All-America honor.

The pair will compete Thursday (May 25) at the Neta & Etta DeRose ThunderBowl. Blaskowski will take part in the long jump final beginning at 3:30 p.m., with Baeuerle competing in the 1,500 prelims at 6:10 p.m. If she qualifies for the finals, she will compete for a national title on Saturday (May 27).
