Ranger of the Week: Ellie Curtis

Over the weekend, the Parkside softball team swept Davenport University in a two-game series to clinch a spot in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Leading the way in a 10-3 victory in Game 2 was freshman Ellie Curtis who pitched a complete game with three strikeouts and has been named the Kenosha.com Ranger of the Week!

About Ellie

The Lockport, Ill., native began playing softball when she was five years old. Just like most other girls who wanted to try pitching, Curtis gave it a try and quickly improved. She fell in love with pitching and has put her focus on improving her skills. Curtis is looking forward to helping her team win in the coming years.

Why Parkside

Ellie chose Parkside because it was a place she saw herself and her game thriving.

“Being able to achieve a great education while being able to continue playing the sport I love most,” said Curtis, adding she fell in love with her coaches and her teammates on her first visit and it helped make her decision much easier.

When asked about the season, Curtis mentioned how things really came together for the Rangers at the right time and she is “super excited we made it to the tournament.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season will look like,” she said, “and I am excited for the last couple weeks with our seniors!”
