Ranger of the Week: All 4.0 student-athletes

Parkside Athletics announced impressive numbers in the classroom on Wednesday (Dec. 28), with the Rangers student-athletes recording a 3.41 departmental GPA in the fall of 2022. 

“We are again so impressed with the academic performance of our student-athletes,” said Andrew Gavin, Director of Athletics. “Our Rangers continue to display their work ethic and commitment to balancing the demands of performing at a high-level athletically and academically. I also commend Assistant AD/Student-Athlete Success Ashley Beaton Simpson for her leadership and our coaches for supporting and prioritizing the academics of our student-athletes.”

In total, 147 or 55% of student-athletes recorded a 3.5 GPA or higher this fall, with 36 of those recording a 4.0. All 13 programs had a 3.0 or higher GPA for the fourth-straight semester. Women’s basketball had the highest GPA of all teams with a 3.7. Men’s golf was the highest on the men’s side with a 3.66. Women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s golf, and softball all had a team GPA of 3.55 or better this fall. 

The 36 student-athletes that finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA were:
