Vonco Products LLC broke ground on a 36,500-square-foot expansion at their facility at 10826 250th Avenue in the Salem Business Park during a ceremony Friday (Oct. 29).
Vonco’s need for more space is the result of two intersecting events that have led to significant growth for the company: rising healthcare and medical device demand as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; and a supply chain on the verge of collapse as medical device parts and packaging sits idle on cargo ships.
“Our customers rely on us, more so now than ever, to help them both meet increased consumer demand AND shift their supply chain strategy back to the United States,” Vonco CEO Keith Smith said. “This expansion enables us to deliver on both by investing in new capital equipment and creating high-quality jobs for skilled workers. I’m excited to see where the future leads.”
Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser added: “I’d like to congratulate Vonco Products on their expansion. Vonco has an incredible team that are running a great business and because of that are growing to meet their customers’ needs. We are happy to have Vonco here in Kenosha County and excited to see them grow here.”
The Kenosha Area Business Alliance, Inc. (KABA) will provide the financing for the expansion of the original building. Vonco will continue to rent the building with an option to purchase. KABA will also provide an $800,000 low-interest loan for equipment as part of Vonco’s expansion efforts. The loan will be funded out of the new EDA CARES revolving loan fund.
“Vonco is a success story and the kind of company we are glad we can support,” said KABA Director of Finance and Administration Brock Portilia. “Since coming to Kenosha County, and through the pandemic, they have continued to grow and expand their product offerings, workforce, equipment, customers, and now their physical space.”
Vonco is enthusiastically hiring personnel to support operations, including 10 immediate new hires and another 20 before construction is complete. Interested applicants can visit https://www.vonco.com/ to apply.
“When we partnered with KABA and Kenosha County on the Salem Business Park, projects like this are exactly what we had hoped for,” remarked Diann Tesar, Village of Salem Lakes Board President. “Vonco took a chance on our new park in 2017 and it was a remarkable decision. I’m happy to be able to congratulate them on their continued success and upcoming expansion.”
